Photography by Amanda

Photography by Amanda I am trying this thing out. I am going to start posting some of the photos I am working on, just as a place to share them. Let me know what you think! :)

I am just getting started, but if you have any ideas or questions, or would like to work with me on a project, email me!

"It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary, it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary."
-- David Bailey

Wow…It has been so long since I updated this photo blog. You can definitely tell I have been out of school for a while. I really need to get back into the swing of things and pick my camera back up!

A few weeks ago, Christine and I went to Phoenix for the NASCAR weekend. Here are a few of my fave photos from the weekend, to help get me back into the swing of this!

Photos from the Bellagio Gardens in Las Vegas, NV. The flowers were so pretty and smelled amazing!

This photo makes me happy.

So, I had the honor of photographing the championship ring ceremony for my old high school. The Colton Yellowjackets won the Central Division State Championship for their 2010 football season. Even though it’s been 6 years since I went there, I couldn’t be prouder of my alma mater and the young men who have worked so hard to represent our school (and the coaching staff)! These are a few of the photos from the ceremony.

These were shot at a Botanical Garden in Claremont. I had a really great time there and it was a pretty day. I turned these in to my Digital Photography class. My professor wanted photos of a “Human Landscape” theme. I chose these because while they look like nature, each plant was specifically placed among the garden with intent by a human. They also needed to be manipulated in whatever way you choose by using cs5. This is what I came up with! :)

My favorite is the reflection in the water.

I really want to keep up with this, so this was my next project. On Saturday, I went out with a few good friends. I wanted to experiment with a shallow depth of field. 2 of them I really liked, they make me laugh. The other is a photo of the group of us that went. :)

These are a few photos I took for fun during our last big storm. I haven’t taken many photos at night, but I wanted to try to capture the way the moon light was illuminating the clouds on the mountains near my house.

The others were just a few attempts to capture the beautiful sky.

I am learning, slowly but surely. :)

So these are the first set of photos I want to post. These are of my good friend Vicky, she is pregnant with her first baby. I took these photos in the studio at my school, using a soft box and a few strobes. I used a huge camera that took 4x5 negatives.

I ruined a lot of negatives in the process and the survivors got scratched up quite a bit during developing. I am thankful for photoshop and the clone stamp! Bye bye scratches!

I am very proud of these photos for the sole fact of the level of difficulty of the assignment. I had fun using the huge camera, but I definitely won’t miss it.
